Someone just told me about your site — I love it! This is a great recipe. My family (maternal grandparents) are from a small town outside of Naples. I am not familiar with this bread. How beautiful! It must be very rich and satisfying with the butter egg yolks in the dough, a sort of amped up tasty brioche. I love the “single serving size.”I could pop a couple in my purse as snack – a girl must think ahead! Complimenti e Buona Pasqua!

This looks like a much healthier version of the Neapolitan casatiello that I have had. When we made that you rolled the bread dough out, spread it with lard, sprinkled on the meats and cheeses and rolled it up again before shaping. Your recipe is more refined and will appeal to more people I think. Will definitely give it a go this Easter.
