As you say, it might be “fun” for tourists, but the locals are not too happy about it. Sadly, it could lead to the ruin of so many beautiful art treasures. What’s happening with the “gates” that were supposed to prevent such events?

My husband and I were in Venice in July and we heard about the floods that occurred. I found it sad to think of those old buildings with all their beautiful items in them getting flooded. Not so good for the infrastructure of the old city either. We had been undecided on whether to go and visit Venice or not,  but it was a beautiful experience we won’t forget! Your pics reminded us of how much beauty there is there.. (touristy or not). Thanks again…?
